Best Ever Beef stew
Ingredients:
2 pounds beef stew meat
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon seasoning salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
4 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
3 large carrots, sliced
3 medium potatoes, cubed
2 celery stalks, chopped
1 bay leaf
Instructions:
1. Coat the Beef: In a large bowl, toss the beef with flour, seasoning salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
2. Sear the Meat: Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Brown the beef in batches, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
3. Sauté the Aromatics: In the same pot, add chopped onion and garlic. Cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
4. Build the Flavor: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, thyme, and rosemary. Pour in beef broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom.
5. Simmer: Return the beef to the pot. Add carrots, potatoes, celery, and the bay leaf. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 1.5-2 hours until beef is tender.
6. Thicken & Serve: Remove the bay leaf. If needed, mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 2 tablespoons water and stir in to thicken. Serve hot and enjoy!
