Classic Spaghetti with Ground Beef
A hearty, irresistible comfort meal that's easy to make and packed with flavor.
Ingredients:
Pasta & Protein:
1 lb spaghetti
1 lb ground beef
Sauce & Seasonings:
1 small onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
1 cup water (or beef broth for extra richness)
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp Italian seasoning
½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
1 tbsp sugar (balances acidity)
2 tbsp olive oil
¼ cup fresh basil or 1 tsp dried basil
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)
Instructions:
1. Cook the Spaghetti:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
2. Brown the Ground Beef:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed.
3. Sauté the Aromatics:
Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
4. Make the Sauce:
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste.
Add water (or beef broth), salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, and sugar.
Simmer uncovered on low heat for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5. Combine & Serve:
Toss the cooked spaghetti into the sauce or serve the sauce over the pasta.
Garnish with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese.
