Quick French Onion Beef & Mashed Potato Bake
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped (optional but adds flavor)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed French onion soup
- 1 packet brown gravy mix (optional, for thickness)
- 4 servings instant mashed potatoes (made per package instructions)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese (optional)
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions:

Brown the beef:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef (and chopped onion if using) until browned. Drain grease. -
Add soup & flavor:
Stir in the can of French onion soup and Worcestershire sauce.
If mixture seems thin, stir in the gravy mix (dry) to thicken slightly. Simmer for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. -
Prepare mashed potatoes:
While the beef simmers, prepare instant mashed potatoes according to package directions. -
Assemble:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Spread beef mixture into a greased 8x8 or 9x9 baking dish. Spread mashed potatoes on top. Sprinkle with shredded cheese, if using. -
Bake:
Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until hot and bubbly. Broil for 2–3 minutes to brown the top if desired. -
Serve and enjoy!
