๐ข Homemade Turtle Candy with Pecans and Caramel
Ingredients:
2 cups pecan halves (toasted if preferred)
1 (11 oz) bag soft caramels (like Kraft), unwrapped
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1½ cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)
---
Instructions:
1. Prepare the pan:
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
2. Arrange pecans:
Place 3–4 pecan halves in a "Y" or cluster shape on the sheet to resemble turtle legs.
3. Melt the caramels:
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unwrapped caramels and heavy cream. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
4. Add caramel to pecans:
Spoon about 1 tablespoon of melted caramel over the center of each pecan cluster. Let sit for 10–15 minutes to set slightly.
5. Melt the chocolate:
Microwave chocolate chips and oil (if using) in 30-second bursts until smooth, stirring often.
6. Top with chocolate:
Spoon chocolate over the caramel layer, just enough to cover. Let candies cool until chocolate sets (you can refrigerate them for faster setting).
7. Serve or store:
Once set, enjoy! Store in an airtight container at room temp or in the fridge.
Tips:
Add a sprinkle of sea salt on top for a salted caramel twist.
You can drizzle with white chocolate for decoration.
