Chili Calamari



🌶 Chili Calamari

Ingredients:


1 lb calamari (squid), cleaned and cut into rings


2 tbsp olive oil


3 cloves garlic, minced


1 red chili (or 1 tsp red chili flakes), finely chopped


1 small onion, thinly sliced


1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced


2 tbsp soy sauce


1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional for depth)


1 tsp chili paste or sambal oelek (adjust to spice level)


Juice of ½ lemon (or lime)


Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped (for garnish)


Salt & black pepper, to taste


Instructions:


1. Pat calamari dry with paper towels to prevent excess water while cooking.

2. Heat olive oil in a wok or skillet over medium-high heat.

3. Add garlic, onion, fresh chili (or flakes), and bell pepper. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.

4. Add calamari and stir-fry quickly (only 2–3 minutes) until just cooked—don’t overcook or it will turn rubbery.

5. Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and chili paste. Toss well to coat.

6. Squeeze lemon juice over the top, season with salt and pepper.

7. Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro and serve immediately.


✨ Serving Ideas:


Serve with steamed jasmine rice or garlic noodles.


Pile onto toasted baguette slices for a tapas-style dish.


Add more chili paste if you want it fiery hot.
