Cumin and Cheese Buns Recipe
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp instant yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup warm milk (plus more if needed)
3 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
1 ½ cups grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
1 tbsp cumin seeds (slightly toasted for best flavor)
1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
---
Instructions:
1. Activate Yeast (if using active dry yeast):
Mix yeast, sugar, and warm milk. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy. (Skip if using instant yeast.)
2. Make the Dough:
In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, cumin seeds, and yeast mixture (or instant yeast).
Add oil/butter and knead into a soft dough, about 8–10 minutes. Add a little more warm milk if too dry.
3. First Rise:
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
4. Shape the Buns:
Punch down dough, divide into 10–12 pieces.
Flatten each piece slightly, add some grated cheese in the center, fold and seal into a bun shape.
Place on a baking tray lined with parchment.
5. Second Rise:
Cover and let buns rise again for 30 minutes.
6. Bake:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Brush buns with egg wash (or milk for a softer crust).
Sprinkle a little cheese and cumin seeds on top.
Bake 18–22 minutes, until golden brown.
7. Serve:
Cool slightly, then enjoy warm with butter, soup, or as a snack!
๐ Tip: For extra flavor, mix cumin seeds into the cheese filling too.
