🥧 Monterey Sausage Pie
Ingredients:
1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust
1 lb pork sausage (mild or spicy), crumbled
1 small onion, chopped
1 small green bell pepper, chopped
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
3 large eggs
1 cup half-and-half (or milk for lighter version)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
---
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate and set aside.
2. Cook sausage & veggies: In a skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until browned and crumbly. Drain excess grease. Add onion and bell pepper, cooking until softened. Remove from heat.
3. Layer filling: Spread sausage mixture evenly into pie crust. Sprinkle cheeses over the top.
4. Mix custard: In a bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Pour over sausage and cheese mixture.
5. Bake: Place in preheated oven and bake 35–40 minutes, or until the pie is set in the center and golden on top.
6. Cool slightly & serve: Let rest 5–10 minutes before slicing.
