Beef and Gravy

Beef and Gravy Over Mashed Potatoes

A hearty, comforting meal that’s perfect for any night of the week!

Ingredients:

For the Mashed Potatoes:

4-5 russet potatoes, peeled and cubed

2 tablespoons butter

1/2 cup milk (more if needed)

Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Beef and Gravy:

1 pound lean ground beef

1 onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

---

Instructions:

For the Mashed Potatoes:

1. Place the peeled and cubed potatoes in a large pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until fork-tender.

2. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.

3. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy, adding more milk if needed. Keep warm.

For the Beef and Gravy:

1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess grease if needed.

2. Stir in the minced garlic (if using) and cook for another 30 seconds.

3. Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture and stir well to coat. Cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.

4. Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring, then add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.

5. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens.

6. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.

To Serve:

Spoon the beef and gravy over the warm mashed potatoes. Enjoy!
