 John Wayne Casserole


Ingredients


1 pound ground beef


1 medium onion, chopped


1 medium bell pepper, chopped


1 can (4 oz) diced green chilies


1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened


1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies, drained


1 cup shredded cheddar cheese


1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese


1 package (10 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough


1 tablespoon taco seasoning (optional)


Salt and pepper to taste



Instructions


1. Cook the Beef and Veggies:


Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).


In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.


Add the chopped onion and bell pepper to the beef and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.




2. Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture:


Add the cream cheese to the beef mixture and stir until melted and smooth.


Stir in the diced tomatoes, green chilies, taco seasoning, and season with salt and pepper to taste.




3. Assemble the Casserole:


Unroll the crescent roll dough and spread it out on the bottom of a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, pressing it to cover the entire bottom.


Spread the beef and veggie mixture evenly over the dough.




4. Top with Cheese:


Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese over the top of the casserole.




5. Bake:


Bake the casserole for 25-30 minutes or until the crescent dough is golden and the cheese is bubbly.




6. Serve:


Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy this cheesy, flavorful dish!
