Savory Puff Pastry Meat Parcels
Ingredients:
Puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
Butter (for sautéing)
1 onion, finely chopped
1 tsp dried basil
1 lb minced meat (beef, chicken, or turkey)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella work great)
1 bunch of parsley, chopped
2 boiled eggs, chopped
1 egg yolk (for brushing)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the filling:
In a skillet, melt some butter and sauté the onion until soft. Add the minced meat, basil, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned and fully cooked. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
2. Mix it up:
Stir in the chopped boiled eggs, cheese, and parsley.
3. Assemble:
Roll out the puff pastry and cut into squares. Add a spoonful of filling to the center of each square. Fold over into a triangle or rectangle and press the edges to seal (use a fork for a pretty crimped edge).
4. Brush and bake:
Brush the tops with beaten egg yolk. Bake at 150°C (300°F) for 30 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
