Ingredients
For the Mashed Potatoes:
4–5 russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
2 tablespoons butter
½ cup milk (more if needed)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the Ground Beef and Gravy:
1 pound lean ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Optional: garlic powder or onion powder, to enhance flavor
---
Instructions
1. Make the mashed potatoes:
Boil the cubed potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (about 15–20 minutes).
Drain, return to the pot, and mash with butter and milk.
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add more milk for creamier potatoes. Cover and keep warm.
2. Cook the beef and onion:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
Add chopped onion and cook until softened (about 5 minutes).
3. Make the gravy:
Sprinkle flour over the beef and onion mixture. Stir and cook for 1–2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.
Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps.
Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and any additional seasonings you like.
Simmer for 5–7 minutes, or until the gravy thickens.
4. Serve:
Spoon the hot mashed potatoes onto plates or bowls.
Top generously with the beef and gravy.
Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
