Classic Vanilla Butter Cake

 


🍰 Classic Vanilla Butter Cake


Ingredients:


2 ½ cups all-purpose flour


2 ½ tsp baking powder


½ tsp baking soda


½ tsp salt


1 cup unsalted butter, softened


2 cups granulated sugar


4 large eggs


1 tbsp pure vanilla extract


1 cup buttermilk (room temperature)



Instructions:


1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan or two 9-inch round pans.



2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.



3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).



4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.



5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with buttermilk, starting and ending with flour mixture. Mix just until combined.



6. Pour batter into prepared pan(s).



7. Bake for 30–35 minutes (for rounds) or 40–45 minutes (for 9x13) or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.



8. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on wire rack.

🥄 Warm Buttermilk Sauce


Ingredients:


½ cup buttermilk


½ cup unsalted butter


1 cup granulated sugar


1 tsp baking soda


1 tsp vanilla extract



Instructions:


1. In a medium saucepan, combine buttermilk, butter, sugar, and baking soda.



2. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. It will foam a bit — that’s normal!



3. Simmer for 4–5 minutes until slightly thickened.



4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.



5. Pour warm sauce over warm or room-temp cake before serving.
