🍫 Turtle Caramel Cake Recipe
Ingredients
For the Cake:
1 box devil’s food cake mix (or German chocolate)
1 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 large eggs
For the Filling:
1 (14 oz) bag caramels (about 50 unwrapped)
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Optional Toppings:
Chocolate syrup or hot fudge
Caramel drizzle
Extra chopped pecans
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
2. Prepare the cake batter according to the instructions on the box (mix with eggs, oil, and water). Set aside.
3. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 15 minutes, then remove from oven.
4. While baking, melt the caramels with evaporated milk in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
5. Pour caramel mixture evenly over the baked cake layer. Sprinkle pecans and chocolate chips over the caramel.
6. Gently pour the remaining cake batter over the top to cover everything.
7. Bake again for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
8. Cool completely. Drizzle with extra caramel sauce, chocolate syrup, and top with pecans before serving.
🍰 Tips:
Store in the fridge for firmer layers.
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a heavenly treat!
