MOUNDS CAKE RECIPE ๐
Ingredients:
1 box white or yellow cake mix
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
½ cup granulated sugar
2 cups chocolate chips
Filling:
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
24 large marshmallows
14 oz (about 1½ cups) sweetened shredded coconut
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking dish.
2. Prepare the cake batter according to box directions, then stir in:
½ cup cocoa powder
½ cup sugar
Mix well.
3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and set aside.
4. Make the coconut filling:
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine:
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
24 marshmallows
Stir until marshmallows are completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
5. Stir in 14 oz shredded coconut. Mix well.
6. Spoon the coconut mixture gently over the cake batter in the pan. Don’t stir.
7. Bake at 350°F for 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
8. While the cake is baking, prepare the chocolate topping:
Melt 2 cups of chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals until smooth.
9. When cake is done, remove from oven and spread the melted chocolate evenly over the top.
10. Cool completely before slicing. Enjoy chilled or at room temperature!
