Bacon and Cheese Puff Pastry
Ingredients:
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
4 eggs
1/4 cup heavy cream or milk
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
4-6 strips of bacon, cooked and chopped
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Prepare Puff Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into 6-8 circles using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
3. Create Borders: Use a smaller cutter or a knife to lightly score a smaller circle inside each puff pastry piece (do not cut through). This helps create a raised edge.
4. Egg Mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
5. Assemble Tarts: Sprinkle shredded cheese onto the center of each pastry round. Pour a small amount of the egg mixture into the center of each tart.
6. Add Bacon: Top each tart with cooked, chopped bacon pieces.
7. Egg Wash: Beat 1 egg and lightly brush the edges of the puff pastry with it for a golden finish.
8. Bake: Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden brown and the egg mixture is set.
9. Serve & Enjoy: Let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
