Ground Beef and Gravy




 Ground Beef and Gravy Over Mashed Potatoes:


Ingredients:


For the Ground Beef and Gravy:


1 lb ground beef


1 small onion, finely chopped


2 cloves garlic, minced


2 tbsp butter


2 tbsp all-purpose flour


2 cups beef broth


1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce


½ tsp salt (or to taste)


½ tsp black pepper


½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)


½ tsp dried thyme (optional)



For the Mashed Potatoes:


4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cubed


4 tbsp butter


½ cup whole milk (or heavy cream)


½ tsp salt (or to taste)


¼ tsp black pepper



Instructions:


1. Make the Mashed Potatoes:


Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (about 15 minutes).


Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth. Set aside.




2. Prepare the Ground Beef and Gravy:


In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed.


Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.


Push beef to one side of the pan, add butter, and let it melt. Sprinkle in flour and stir well, cooking for about 1 minute to remove the raw flour taste.


Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme. Stir well.


Simmer for 5-7 minutes until the gravy thickens.




3. Serve:


Spoon the beef and gravy over a bed of mashed potatoes. Enjoy
