Million Dollar Lasagna
Ingredients
For the Meat Sauce:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
For the Ricotta Mixture:
- 16 oz ricotta cheese
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Other Ingredients:
- 12 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Make the Meat Sauce:
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef, Italian sausage, and diced onion over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for at least 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Prepare the Ricotta Mixture:
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, egg, Parmesan cheese, and parsley until well combined.

Assemble the Lasagna:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Layer 4 cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
- Sprinkle 1 cup mozzarella cheese over the ricotta.
- Repeat the layers (meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella).
- Finish with a final layer of noodles, meat sauce, remaining mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese on top.

Bake the Lasagna:
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
