Savory Puff Pastry with Minced Meat and Cheese recipe that’s crispy, cheesy, and packed with flavor!
Ingredients:
For the Filling:
1 sheet puff pastry (or as needed)
1 tbsp butter (for greasing)
1 onion, finely chopped
1 tsp dried basil
300g minced meat (beef, chicken, or pork)
Salt and black pepper (to taste)
100g cheese (grated, mozzarella or cheddar)
1 bunch parsley, chopped
2 boiled eggs, chopped
For Assembly:
1 egg yolk + 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)
Sesame seeds or nigella seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Filling
1. In a pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until soft and translucent.
2. Add minced meat and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
3. Season with salt, black pepper, and dried basil. Stir well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
4. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Then mix in grated cheese, chopped parsley, and chopped boiled eggs.
Step 2: Assemble the Pastries
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface. Cut it into squares or rectangles, depending on your preferred size.
3. Place a spoonful of the meat filling in the center of each piece.
4. Fold the pastry over the filling, sealing the edges by pressing with a fork or twisting them slightly.
Step 3: Bake
1. Brush the tops with egg wash (egg yolk + milk mixture). Sprinkle with sesame seeds or nigella seeds if using.
2. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Step 4: Serve & Enjoy!
Serve warm with a side of yogurt, sour cream, or a simple salad.
