Stuffed Cabbage Casserole
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
1 medium onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1 ½ cups cooked white rice
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp paprika (optional)
1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese (optional topping)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
3. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
4. Stir in the chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes (with juices), tomato sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage starts to soften.
5. Stir in the cooked rice and mix well.
6. Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover with foil.
7. Bake for 40 minutes. If using cheese, uncover, sprinkle on top, and bake an additional 10–15 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
8. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
