Best Homemade Salsa (Blender or Food Processor)

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (14.5 oz) fire-roasted diced tomatoes (or fresh tomatoes, chopped)
  • 1 small onion, roughly chopped
  • 1–2 jalapeños, seeded for less heat
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp sugar (optional, helps balance acidity)
  • Salt to taste (start with ½ tsp)
  • 1 fresh Roma tomato (for added freshness, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Add everything to a blender or food processor: canned tomatoes, onion, jalapeños, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, cumin, sugar, and salt. If using, add the fresh Roma tomato too.
  2. Pulse 8–10 times until you reach your desired consistency (chunky or smooth).
  3. Taste and adjust: Add more salt or lime juice if needed.
  4. Chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes for the flavors to blend (optional but worth it).
  5. Serve with chips, tacos, or anything that needs a flavor boost!

🔥 Optional Add-Ins:

  • 1 chipotle pepper in adobo for smoky heat
  • ½ bell pepper for a milder, sweeter twist
  • A pinch of cayenne for more heat
