🧅 Easy Onion Boil Recipe
📝 Ingredients
8–10 small onions (or pearl onions, peeled)
6 cups water (enough to cover onions)
3 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
½ teaspoon black pepper
Optional: a pinch of sugar for extra sweetness
🧑🍳 Instructions
1. Prepare the onions: Peel your onions. If using large onions, quarter them. Pearl onions can stay whole.
2. Bring water to a boil: Fill a large pot with water, add salt, and bring to a rolling boil.
3. Add the onions: Carefully drop the onions into the boiling water.
4. Simmer: Reduce heat to medium and simmer for about 15–20 minutes, or until onions are fork-tender and translucent.
5. Drain: Drain the onions well.
6. Add butter & season: Return the onions to the warm pot, add butter, black pepper, and a pinch of sugar if using. Toss gently until coated and butter is melted.
7. Serve: Taste and adjust salt and pepper as desired. Serve hot as a delicious, buttery side.
