Biscuits and Gravy Casserole
Serves: 10–12 | Prep Time: 15 min | Cook Time: 35–40 min
Ingredients:
1 lb breakfast sausage (pork or turkey)
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 cups milk (whole preferred)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)
1 (8-count) can refrigerated biscuits, cut into quarters
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
6 large eggs
1/2 cup milk (for eggs)
---
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13" baking dish.
2. Brown the sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Once fully cooked, sprinkle in the flour and stir until sausage is well-coated.
3. Slowly whisk in 3 cups of milk, simmering until the mixture thickens (about 5–7 minutes). Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
4. In a bowl, whisk the eggs with 1/2 cup milk. Set aside.
5. Layer half the biscuit pieces in the greased baking dish. Pour the egg mixture over the biscuits.
6. Sprinkle with shredded cheese (if using), then pour the sausage gravy over the top.
7. Top with remaining biscuit pieces. Press gently so they settle into the gravy.
8. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until biscuits are golden and cooked through. Tent with foil if top browns too quickly.
9. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving. Great warm or at room temperature!
✅ Potluck Tip:
You can double the recipe in a large foil pan for bigger crowds. It reheats well and is always a hit!
