8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
¼ cup (½ stick) butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract

Ingredients:
1 cup granulated sugar
6 tbsp butter, cubed
½ cup heavy cream
Pinch of salt

1. Make the Cake:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan or springform pan.
2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices.
3. In another large bowl, whisk sugars, eggs, oil, yogurt (or sour cream), and vanilla until smooth.
4. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet. Fold in grated carrots or apples if using.
5. Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
6. Cool completely before frosting.
