Ham and Cheese Lasagna
🧀 Ingredients:
6 large fresh lasagna sheets
6 slices of ham
50 g (1.75 oz) chopped onion
50 g (1.75 oz) butter
55 g (1.9 oz) flour
500 ml (2 cups) milk
100 g (3.5 oz) grated cheese (like Emmental, Gruyère, or mozzarella)
Salt and pepper to taste
A pinch of ground nutmeg (optional)
---
🥄 Instructions:
1. Make the béchamel sauce:
In a saucepan, melt the butter. Add the chopped onions and sauté for 2–3 minutes until soft (do not brown).
Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Gradually pour in the milk while whisking to avoid lumps.
Cook over medium heat, stirring, until the sauce thickens.
Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg if using.
Stir in half the grated cheese and mix until melted.
2. Assemble the lasagna:
In a greased baking dish, spread a thin layer of béchamel sauce.
Place 2 lasagna sheets on the bottom.
Add 2 slices of ham and cover with béchamel sauce.
Repeat the layers (pasta → ham → sauce) until you’ve used everything.
Finish with béchamel sauce on top and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
3. Bake:
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Bake for about 25–30 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
