Hanky Panky Bites
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground pork sausage (spicy or mild, your choice)
1 (16 oz) package Velveeta cheese, cubed
1½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
Salt & black pepper to taste
1 package cocktail rye or pumpernickel party bread
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Brown the meats:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and sausage together until fully browned and no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
3. Add seasonings & cheese:
Lower heat to low. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Add cubed Velveeta cheese and stir until melted and fully combined into a creamy mixture.
4. Assemble the bites:
Arrange the party bread slices on a baking sheet. Spoon about a tablespoon of the meat mixture onto each slice, spreading it evenly.
5. Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for about 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the bread edges are slightly crisp.
6. Serve warm:
Best served hot out of the oven. You can also freeze them before baking and pop them in the oven straight from the freezer when needed.
Make-Ahead Tip:
Prepare the meat-cheese mixture ahead of time and refrigerate for up to 2 days. Reheat gently before assembling and baking.
