 Old-Fashioned American Goulash


Ingredients:


2 lbs ground beef


1 large onion, diced


3 cloves garlic, minced


2 cans (15 oz each) tomato sauce


1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (undrained)


3 cups beef broth or water


1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce


2 tsp Italian seasoning


1 tsp paprika


Salt and pepper, to taste


2 cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)


1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)


Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

🧑‍🍳 Instructions:


1. Brown the Beef: In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef and onions over medium heat until the meat is browned and the onions are soft. Drain excess grease.



2. Add Garlic and Seasonings: Stir in minced garlic, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 more minute until fragrant.



3. Add Liquids: Pour in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, and broth. Stir well to combine.



4. Simmer: Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes to let the flavors blend.



5. Cook the Pasta: Stir in the uncooked elbow macaroni. Cover and simmer for another 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender.



6. (Optional) Add Cheese: Stir in shredded cheddar cheese just before serving for a creamy touch.



7. Serve: Spoon into bowls and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

🍴 Tips:


Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for some heat.


You can mix in veggies like bell peppers, corn, or mushrooms.


Leftovers reheat beautifully and taste even better the next day.
