🥘 Southern Style Creamy Chicken and Gravy
Ingredients:
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp olive oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp black pepper
½ tsp cayenne (optional, for a little kick)
Salt, to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Season & Sear the Chicken:
Lightly season chicken with salt, pepper, and paprika. In a large skillet, heat butter and oil over medium-high. Sear chicken on both sides until golden brown (about 3–4 minutes each side). Remove and set aside.
2. Make the Creamy Gravy:
In the same skillet, sauté onion until soft. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Stir in cream of chicken soup, broth, and heavy cream. Whisk until smooth.
3. Simmer:
Return chicken to skillet, spooning gravy over the top. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 20–25 minutes, until chicken is cooked through and sauce thickens.
4. Serve:
Garnish with parsley and serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or fluffy Southern biscuits.
